Grants are provided from the State Budget of the Republic of Croatia (15%) and from the European Social Fund (85%).
PROJECT OBJECTIVE: strengthening children’s participation at the local level through capacity building and development of the Society “Our Children” Opatija and the Union of Societies “Our Children” of Croatia to contribute to the development of civil society and regional socio-economic growth and democratic development.
Achieving the general goal will be achieved by realizing 3 specific goals:
- Strengthening the capacity of Society “Our Children” Opatija, the City of Opatija and the Union of Societies “Our Children” of Croatia through trainings to promote children’s participation in the local community;
- Strengthening the capacity of the network of Societies “Our Children”, disseminating knowledge to strengthen social inclusion and education, changing public awareness of the importance of including children in local communities;
- Strengthening the capacity of of Society “Our Children” Opatija, the City of Opatija and the Union of Societies “Our Children” of Croatia by educating and conducting volunteer activities at the local level for an effective response to the needs of children in crisis situations.
CHILDREN’S CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OPATIJA – APPLICATION OF CHILDREN’S PARTICIPATION IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
As part of the EU project “LET’S START THE WHEEL OF OUR COMMUNITY – empowering the local community for better children’s participation” UP.04.2.1.11.0067, a web manual on children’s participation was published under the title “CHILDREN’S CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OPATIJA – APPLICATION OF CHILDREN’S PARTICIPATION IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY”.
The manual was created as part of the implementation of activity 2. Conception and creation of digital material – a web manual on children’s rights and participation. The purpose of creating the web manual is to bring the Opatija model of children’s participation closer to other cities and municipalities (Societies „Our children“ and Children’s Councils).
CHILDREN HELPING CHILDREN
As part of project activity 4. Organizing the volunteer action “Children helping children”, a manual was created – “Children helping children” for volunteering in crisis situations, according to the concept of peer help, as guidelines that will enable the proper inclusion of children and adults in volunteer activities at the local level. The manual is primarily intended for coordinators of volunteer activities in local Societies “Our Children” in Croatia, but also in other civil society organizations.
The production of the manual is carried out as part of the EU project Let’s start the wheel of our community – empowering the local community for better children’s participation” UP.04.2.1.11.0067.
The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund. The project is co-financed by the Office for Cooperation with NGOs of Government of the Republic of Croatia. The content of the text for the web is the sole responsibility of the Society “Our Children” Opatija.
