Councilors of the 14th convocation of the Children’s City Council of the City of Opatija spent the week before starting school touring the institutions of the City of Opatija! The aim of the tour of the institutions is to familiarize the councilors with the institutions of the city in which they live: what these institutions do and how they work with and for children.
Together with their mentors, they visited the following institutions where they were welcomed by representatives of the institutions: City of Opatija, TC Opatija, Festival Opatija, Kindergarten Opatija, Public Firefighter Station Opatija, City Library and Reading Room Opatija, County Port Authority Opatija, Opatija 21 d.o.o. and Parkovi company.
In the City of Opatija, they participated in a small course in the office of the mayor, Fernando Kirigin, where they asked the mayor various questions: how much time he spends at work, where he bathes, what he does in his free time, how the city budget is distributed, how much money is allocated for children and much more.
The child mayor of Opatija, Lana, invited the mayor and his deputy, Kristina Đukić, to the final conference of the EU project “Let’s start the wheel in our community” UP.04.2.1.11.0067, which will be held on September 18th, 2023.
They designed the actions and activities that they will carry out within the framework of the theme of their mandate “I give you a hand – joint activities with children with developmental disabilities”.
